The online demos all sound great but they're trying to sell the amp and I don't play nearly as well as the demonstrators do. My musical style is pretty much just bad. All at home for my own entertainment - no gigging at all. Any other amp suggestions?

I don't need a really powerful amp but I DO need a headphone jack which eliminates most of the tube amps. I really don't want another modeling amp. I tend to just tinker with the knobs instead of practicing and that's why I sold the Mustang. I have a Vox AC15C1 but there's no headphone jack and I have to crank it up too loud to get the tone out of it that I want.

I've read through quite a few threads and I'm more confused than when I started, hence this thread. Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. CoryBAug 20, Aug 21, 2. Messages: 1, I'm looking into one of these amps too. It has clean, dirty, a tuner and reverb - perfect for a practice amp and loud enough to jam with if you take it to that point. Aug 21, 3.

Messages: 2, OK, I had one - bought it after I "unretired" from playing. The first one blew the speaker when I tried to jam with a drummer and bass player. They sent me another one, and I replaced the speaker with a Celestion V30 10" to solve that problem.

Sounded really good, and a bit louder, then about 1 year later it began buzzing loudly. Ended up being the transformer.Your question may be answered by sellers, manufacturers, or customers who purchased this item, who are all part of the Amazon community.

The effects loop in the back is a nice feature though I haven't used it yet. Amazing warm cleans and very defined distortion.

The spring style reverb sounds awesome cranked up a bit. I'd recommend this thing to any bedroom player. And I haven't been playing that long nor am I very good lol.Fulfillment by Amazon FBA is a service we offer sellers that lets them store their products in Amazon's fulfillment centers, and we directly pack, ship, and provide customer service for these products. Initially introduced inthe Crush series was launched as a range of practice amps offering good solid state tone on a budget. It's worth pointing out that these amps are a complete redesign of the old amps with some great features, but let's talk from the ground up.

As the numbers suggest, the Crush 12 is a 12 Watt, the 20 is a 20 Watt etc. Aside from that, the only other differences are that the 35 has an effects loop and a 10 inch speaker, but the 20 doesn't have an effects loop and comes with an 8 inch speaker.

Both amps feature an impressive four stage pre-amp which puts a range of complex tones in the hands of the player, with a pre-amp section featuring low noise operational amps to provide four stages of gain - and a quick turn of the gain knob really shows how in depth these amps can go.

If you're into Jazz, Blues, Country, Rock, Metal or anything else, the chances are you'll be able to find a tone that delivers in the practice room. Aside from both amps having great dirt channels, they both feature a solid clean tone selectable with either the switch on the amp or via a footswitch which isn't included, but any external switch will work. As far as three band EQs go for a clean channel, it's a pretty standard affair here for an amp of this type.

It almost feels like Orange has held back on these knobs in the sense that they're confident enough in the tone out of the box that the EQ knobs don't need a massive sweep, but in all fairness, for the target market, that's not a bad thing at all. I remember learning to play and using my little practice amp and what I wanted was for it to sound good, but I didn't really know how to - the Crush series will take care of that!

The reverb and tuner on both amps are more than satisfactory, with a very organic and warm spring reverb and a fast tracking built in chromatic tuner which facilitates fast tuning on the fly with the LED based display. For me, the most exciting feature of this amp is the cabinet simulation on the headphone out.

For recording at home, getting a good tone captured can be a pain for someone who doesn't have much experience with miking techniques. For these users Orange have a great built-in 4x12 cabinet simulation which is accessed via the headphone port, so either as a tool for practising with headphones, or recording via line out into your computer, you've got a great feature here.

If you check the video you'll hear a great example of the amp both miked up and via line out and it genuinely is incredible just how different the tones are. Both totally usable, and both impressive.

The last feature that highlights how perfect these are for the practice market is that all new Crush users will be given the Orange Rock Guitar Beginner online course available for free. This fantastic little course is an introduction to proper music education, theory, reading notes, reading tabs etc. More info on these can be found on the Orange site. Created for home use, for practising or recording with your full tone, they do it better than most products on the market, so get down your local dealer and try one out now.

Orange Crush 12 Guitar Combo Amp Review

ByJuly 11, in Effects and Processors. I'm looking about getting one of these Orange crush 20w practice amp. I just want to jam out on headphones and not have it sound like garbage. Not sure about the 20w but I had a Crush 30R and it was great as a little practice amp, sounds nice clean and the reverb makes it so you can get a nice jam out of it, built in distortion was usable too.

If your just going to practice and use headphones through it I'd recommend it. He can take or leave it. Be back in an hour or so with or with out it Now you tell me. I bought one of the smaller ones to run scratch tracks direct with. I think it's 11 watts or something. They are decent. You'll be satisfied practicing with it for sure. They do cleans very well and the larger 35watt version comes with onboard effects. Not bad for solid state practice amps, and you gotta admit those Orange amps do look cool.

Thumbs down. I swear its breaking up with my tremvelope on. I have the 15 watt version, which is okay as a practice amp. Nothing groundbreaking, but the spring reverb is nice. I have also used it at a couple of rehearsals with a drummer and a another guitarist, where it was almost drowned out, but I had no other amp at the time.

I had to max out the controls to be able to hear myself, but the overdriven sounds sounds were surprisingly nice. The clean sound isn't bad, the 'bluesy' overdriven tones are OK, but there's really no distortion in this amp.

When cranked, it sounds more like a fuzz than anything remotely resembling true tube distortion. The built-in effects aren't bad, but nothing to write home about. The integrated tuner is either universally flat across the board, or my Korg Pitchblack is equally sharp. A-B'ing the Orange against my Vox Pathfinder, the Path wins hands down for overall tone and distortion sounds. BUT, the Orange is a fun little amp and looks cool as hell! Might not.

I can definitely say that high gain is definitely not what this amp is about. Once you crank the overdrive you really know you're playing on a solid state amp as it lacks the warmth of a nice valve amp.

Still, I've played though some solid state amps with horrible OD channels. While the OD on the Orange isn't horrible, it's certainly not the best sounding. It sounds much better on the verge of breakup, but even then I'd be more inclined to use an OD or distortion pedal in front of the amp.Discussion in ' Amps and Cabs ' started by ProgmanDec 31, Log in or Sign up. Messages: 2, I mean come on. I'm sure the Orange is decent but really?

It's not going to be better than all these other heads. And having listened to the clips of the CRh, I wouldn't buy it even if it were tube based. I don't get along with the Orange sound though. Last edited: Dec 31, PromitDec 31, Jan 9, 5.

I'm intrigued by the CR Pro amps as well, mainly "just because". Probably the best demo that I've seen: He does a good discussion on the amp at Sounds pretty decent to me, especially for the price. Noise Under The FloorJan 9, Jan 9, 6. Messages: 8,
